Overview
The Lindam Sure Shut Axis Gate is a metal pressure gate designed to fit gaps from 75cm to 82cm.
Being a pressure gate, it has a u-shape construction which means that it has a bottom support bar. This bar can be a trip hazard and we recommend that it is not used at the top of a stairway. It is most useful at the bottom of stairs or as a barrier between rooms.
Installation
The Sure Shut Axis is fairly easy to install. It is a pressure gate and so no screwing or drilling is necessary just use the enclosed spanner to extend the adjusters on either side. Installation time was typically under 10 minutes. The adjusters have to be done up tightly and can be prone to marking walls once the gate has been permanently removed.
In Practice
Although this gate is specified as One Handed Opening, the mechanism is fairly difficult to operate and can take some time to get the hang of. Some reviewers were only able to open the gate with both hands. We see this as an issue if carrying a child and trying to open the gate.
The Sure Shut Axis also comes with one or two way opening via two bottom gate stops. This also doubles as a bottom locking mechanism however in practice a child can easily open these.
This gate also features an extra wide opening section. This extra clearance makes moving through the gate much easier and less likely to snag clothes or bruise hips. The small gap between the bars also makes it useful as a pet gate.
Summary
An easy to install gate that is solid and durable but is not the easiest to open. We do like the extra wide opening but the bottom support bar is a trip hazard.
